Working with the TTO staff, faculty leaders and senior university management to develop and deliver ways of engaging more effectively with industry. This included “Meet the Inventor Days” where researchers, investors and business were invited to events where research capabilities were showcased, and investment ready technologies were pitched to potential investors.
Zagreb University
Centre for Research, Development and Technology Transfer
Mentoring TTO staff and senior university management to build an effective technology transfer process. TT activities in Croatia can be fragmented as research faculties are independent legal entities that hold ownership of all IPR generated by their research. I worked with the university management and faculties to develop a central TTO service and a workable methodology for commercialisation of IP that provides a win-win for all of the stakeholders. This has been embedded in the university strategy and IP policy.

International Training Centre for the International Labour Organization
Designed and delivered 2 days of training in the basics of Technology Transfer and IP Licensing on the Turin University-WIPO Master of Laws in Intellectual Property. A series of 4 training sessions were followed by workshops which took the students on a Learning-by-Doing journey from idea generation, validation and development and protection of IPR through to pitching for investment and negotiating a licence deal. In the final workshop we worked with the students to develop and deliver effective pitches and to negotiate the basic terms for a licence deal.

The University of Malta has a large portfolio of IP which is near to investment ready. We worked with the TTO team and management to accelerate the process of pitching the technologies to inventors and potential business partners.

Technology Transfer Unit
Mentoring KTO staff and management to increase deal flow with emphasis on investment readiness and deal-making. The TTO has been established in a state-of-the-art innovation and incubation centre (Mektory) on the grounds of the university. We worked with the TTO team and management to accelerate their development of a portfolio of projects ready for investment and to pitch these projects in the language of investors.
